Nioh 3: Mission Item Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Pick up the wrong tea bowl, and you'll spend twenty minutes wondering why the NPC won't accept it. That's Nioh 3's Mission Items in a nutshell — highly specific objects with exact locations, exact usage targets, and in several cases, exact active Myths required before they even exist in the world.

With 60+ Mission Items pinned across all areas on the Nioh 3 interactive maps, MapMaster is the only resource that consolidates every Mission Item with its spawn condition, usage instruction, and cross-era delivery target in a single searchable guide — available on our Nioh 3 100% completion hub.

What Are Mission Items in Nioh 3?

Mission Items are non-combat objects that drive Myth, Sub Mission, and Main Mission objectives forward.

Unlike Keys, which persist in the world regardless of your current quest, many Mission Items are physically absent from the map until the correct Myth or mission is active. Walking through a location without the right quest running means finding nothing — even if an item is pinned on the map.

Myth-Exclusive Items: They Won't Exist Without the Right Quest Active

The largest category in this guide consists of items that only spawn while a specific Myth is active. Clue #1 and Clue #2 in Hamamatsu spawn only during Insatiable Hunger. The Physick and Memory in Tenryu River only appear during A Drop of Hope.

The Deserted Village Key exists only during Those Who Live in the Shadows. The Blacksmith's Body, Ryoma's Letter, and the six-clue A Present from Whom? set all require their respective Myths to be running before any of those items appear.

The checklist below flags every Myth-exclusive item with its parent Myth — if you arrive at a pinned location and find nothing, check whether the correct Myth is active first.

The Tea Bowl Trap: Beautiful vs Gorgeous

The most common Mission Item mistake in the game: two tea bowls, very similar names, completely different purposes.

The Beautiful Celadon Tea Bowl is found on an Amrita Corpse west of Anneibo Village Shrine in Hachijo. It is not what Matsunaga Hisashide in the Eternal Rift wants.

The Gorgeous Celadon Tea Bowl — the one required for The Value of Perfection Myth — is on a corpse under the eastern Nishiichi bridge.

Cross-Era Items: Three Missions That Span Multiple Time Periods

Three Mission Items require travelling between historical eras to complete their delivery chain:

  • White-Green Gemstone — received from Himiko in Heian after defeating Ryomen Sukuna and purifying the Corrupted Barrier as part of the Seeking Spirit Stones Myth. Delivery target: Thomas Glover near the Yasaka Shrine in Bakumatsu.

  • Azure Water Buttercup — received from Tokugawa Ieyasu in Warring States during the Old Medicine, New Problems Myth. Delivery target: Kusumoto Ine in Bakumatsu.

  • Tomato — dropped by the Enenra boss in Bakumatsu during the same Old Medicine, New Problems Myth. Delivery target: Tokugawa Ieyasu in the Warring States.

All three require holding the item while using the Eternal Rift to switch eras — the checklist for each flags the correct delivery destination.

Spirit Stone Boxes: Antiquity's Puzzle System

Antiquity uses Mission Items as a dedicated puzzle mechanic. Ten numbered Spirit Stone Boxes (#1–#10) are placed across the dungeon, each powering a specific pedestal to open locked doors, activate elevators, and unlock shortcuts.

The order matters — Box #5 activates the elevator that lets you reach Box #9's shortcut, Box #8 powers the lowest floor elevator, and Box #10 activates the final lift to the boss arena.

All ten are pinned sequentially on the Antiquity map guide, with exactly which pedestal each box unlocks.

Three Legendary Blades for the Fox-Masked Blacksmith

Three Mission Items are legendary Japanese swords hidden across Heian, each requiring retrieval and delivery to the Fox-masked Blacksmith in the Eternal Rift:

  • Dojikiri Yasutsuna — interact with the grave in the westernmost clearing of Hachijo, past the Spirit Vein.
  • Mikazuki Munechika — in the locked building at Matsuo-taisha Shrine, reached by crossing a hidden bamboo path and dropping through a hole in the roof.
  • Odenta Mitsuyo — inside a chest in the Palace Grounds Crucible, past the third Bodhisattva Statue on the hill.

All three are included on the Heian interactive map with exact approach routes, linked to the Eternal Rift map guide for the Blacksmith delivery point.
